HIGHAM FERRERS TOWN COUNCIL
The council came into being in
1974 upon the re-organisation
of Local Government and is
the successor council to
Higham Ferrers Borough
council which was in existence
from 1251 to 1974.
The council consists of 16
elected Councillors and elects a
Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the
Annual Meeting of the Council
in May of each year. The Mayor
for 2019/20 is Councillor
Christopher O’Rourke.
The council meets in the Town
Hall on the last Tuesday of each
month except in December
when the meeting is moved to
the last available Tuesday prior
to Christmas. The council also
has the following committees:
Policy and Resources Committee:
Meets bi-monthly, Environment
and Recreation Committee:
Meets bi-monthly, Planning and
Development Committee: Meets
monthly, Personnel Committee:
Meets as required.
