As part of ongoing development within
Rushden, Rushden Lakes, a brand new
retail, recreational and leisure development
opened its doors in 2017 on the northern
outskirts of Rushden.
The complex is set in an area of outstanding
natural beauty at the gateway to the Nene
Valley, adjacent to Rushden town centre.
The centre, which complements the existing
facilities and services available in Rushden,
has created local jobs and provides
new and exciting leisure and recreation
opportunities for nearby residents.
A footbridge links Rushden Lakes to
Rushden town, and provides easy access
by foot along the local pedestrian and
cycle path known as the Greenway. An
extensive bus service also runs between
Rushden Lakes and neighbouring towns;
Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Wellingborough,
Northampton and Raunds.
The Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre is based
at Rushden Lakes and provides a gateway to
the Nene Wetlands, a huge nature reserve
made up of five connected wildlife sites.
Walks and nature trails including the “Skew
Bridge Loop” are provided. For families that
want to get even closer to wildlife, canoe
and paddle boat hire is available at the
Boathouse next to the visitor centre.
Cineworld cinema opened at Rushden Lakes
in 2019 and features 14 state-of-the-art
screens including IMAX, the world’s most
immersive cinema experience.
